In her left hand, she proudly raises a Revolutionary War flag bearing a lone pine tree and the words “An Appeal to God.” This flag was designed by Colonel Joseph Reed in 1775 and adopted by the Continental Navy under the command of George Washington.

The reverse is blank aside from a mirrored outline of the obverse design, with no additional colorization or enhancements, consistent with all Goldback notes.

Though gold has not circulated in the United States since 1933, the passage of a 2011 bill in Utah revived the idea of gold as a medium of exchange.
